CARES Act Reporting

Congress and the President have come together to offer relief to those individuals and industries affected by the COVID-19 virus under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or the CARES Act.

Section 18004(a) of the CARES Act, Pub.L. 116-136 (March 27, 2020), authorizes the Secretary of Education to allocate formula grant funds to participating institutions of higher education (IHEs).

In compliance with reporting requirements established by the US Department of Education’s Secretary, the following information describes the use of funds distributed from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) act to Applied Technology Services, a department of the Special School District of St. Louis County.

The signed Certification and Agreement for Funds under Section 18004(a)(3) of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economics Security (CARES) Act was returned to the U.S. Department of education on May 21st, 2020.

The Special School District of St. Louis County (SSD) intends to use the funds received under Section 18004 (a)(3) of the CARES Act for expenses incurred, including lost revenue and technology investment to help meet the academic needs of adult students.

On August 6th, 2020, The U.S. Department of Education notified SSD that funds from the CARES Act Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) Section 18004 (a)(3) was awarded in the amount of $166,731.
